Rule # 3: The best (and priciest) stuff is Amenity Shave Cream. Cheesy name, scary bottle, lots of stuff listed on the front we?d never heard of in shaving supplies (Kava Kava?!), and the least pleasant smell of the bunch. But wait! Despite the smell and slimy consistency, it works frighteningly well, lifting every hair above the grain no matter how thick the shave, how early in the morning it was or how incoherent we were. After a while (and a good aftershave), the smell wasn?t so bad. Best thing: no razor burn, red bumps or irritation.
02/28/07: Saving Face - Amenity Grooming Products
If you've been reading my posts for a while you know I'm not a
fan of the whole "metrosexual" thing. (I don't want to get all
wound up again, so you'll have to read it here.) But I am smart
enough to appreciate that some overall good has come out of the
metro marketing push.
One of the positives is that guys finally have a large variety of
quality grooming products to choose from. (Note to true
metrosexuals: I said - and meant - "grooming products" not
"makeup". Calm down.) And judging from the boxes stacked up
here at The Pad, sent in from many of those companies that target
guys who care about how we look - which, for those of you
keeping score at home, is an $18 billion a year market - we have a
ton of excellent options to choose from. As opposed to having to
rifle through our girlfriend's stuff. Looking for something to wash our face with. That doesn't leave us smelling like wildflowers on a spring day.
We need stuff made for a man's face. A face that faces a triple-edged razor scraping across it on a daily basis. A face that endures the sun and dirt and grime of a construction site. That deals with cigar smoke. Ingrown hairs. Razor burn. And all the other things women's faces don't have to endure. (Well, most women.)
Amenity, a maker of grooming products for men, is pioneering Clinical Grooming, which provides guys with physician-developed products that address the uniqueness of the thicker and oilier male derma.
Because good grooming is much more than simply shaving, Amenity's line includes a gel cleanser, an anti-breakout gel, shave cream, after shave moisturizer, and The Balm, an excellent all-around moisturizer. Which is great, because it means less thinking (and shopping) on our part. Just give me a solution for each problem and I'm happy.
All their skin products feature Pro-Form 6, a complex that they say is the all-in-one solution for a guy's skin. It contains Willow Bark Extract to reduce razor burn and ingrown hairs, Rutin to reduce redness, Provitamin B5 to condition skin, Bisabolol to prevent irritation, Hyaluronic Acid to moisturize, and Liposomal Vitamins A,C & E to prevent signs of aging. Yeah, I don't
understand any of that either. I leave it to the guys in white coats. I just know I tried the stuff and it works.
And it's all oil, alcohol and fragrance free. So I smell just the way nature intended me to. Flower free.
Men Against Breast Cancer is the first national non-profit organization designed to provide targeted support services to educate and empower men to be effective caregivers when breast cancer strikes a female loved one; as well as, target and mobilize men to be active participants in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease.
Dwight Schultheis, a|MEN|ity's co-founder identifies with men who have had to experience the pain associated with watching women in their lives fight this disease. "In 1996, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer and later passed away after a long battle in 2000. I dedicate our annual contributions to MABC to my grandmother, Barbara "Pinky" Eastwood."

Men With Heart is a nonprofit, charitable organization devoted to increasing male awareness of, and participation in, causes generally considered to be "women's issues." To date we have raised funds to support breast cancer research, treatment, and prevention. As the organization grows, Men with Heart intends to focus efforts on other issues that affect the women in our lives.
Dwight Schultheis, a|MEN|ity's co-founder, believes. "It's wrong to think of breast cancer as a woman's issue ? in my experience, it's a family issue. Yet more than 95% of money raised for a cure is raised by women alone. Men With Heart is one of the most unique non-profits that I've heard of because it recruits teams of caring men to walk in the annual sixty mile Susan G. Komen breast cancer walks. I've walked twice, once in 2004 and again in 2005, and it's an amazing experience to be out there making a statement that men care. Combined, Men With Heart raised more than $100,000 for those two walks. So little money is raised by men to fund the fight for a cure, but I'm proud to say that MWH raises six figures yearly."

The Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation is committed to preventing lung cancer through education and research. Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer among both men and women in the US. More than 60% of people newly diagnosed with lung cancer each year have never smoked or have quit smoking.
Amenity's management team participates in various fundraising walks and runs each year and actively supports cancer charities that are raising money in this manner. The TGL Foundation has an annual run in New York and Washington, DC.

NUE BLUE ERIU Grooming Pit-stop
Ireland?s beauty, skincare and lifestyle professionals lent their expertise backstage at the BRIT AWARDS 2007 with MasterCard
Amenity Facials, Massage, Eye Treatments and Manicures were all on offer backstage at The BRIT Awards 2007 courtesy of Ireland?s own beauty emporium Nue Blue Eriu. Taking them up on their offer of relaxing and revitalising treatments plus an array of exclusive products in the official BRIT Awards 2007 goody bag, were many of the stars, presenters, stylists, managers and family attending this prestigious event.
Backstage we saw The Killers, Corinne Bailey Rae (hot from the Grammys), Kate Thornton, Take That, Snow Patrol, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Scissor Sisters and Oasis. The Killers requested that Nue Blue Eriu look after their grooming needs when they are in Dublin later this month. A lot of the bands and presenters flew in from all over the world and were jet lagged when they arrived, so our treatments and products were real life savers for them and their entourages.
