Our Commitment to Scientific Excellence We at aMENity know the value of an investment in quality research. It's the only way to find innovative answers to old problems. That's why we have extended aMENity's commitment to scientific excellence to include one of the leading health issues for men: cancer. Men and Cancer About half of all men will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. Despite some advances in treating the disease, the stark reality is that nearly 300,000 men in the U.S. alone die of cancer each year. Clearly, the old solutions aren't working well enough. We searched among the best cancer charities to find the one that shared our passion for scientific excellence and imaginative solution building. We struck gold when our search led us to the Cancer Research Institute (CRI). CRI: A Unique Organization with a Unique Strategy Cancer Research Institute is a charity unlike any other. For more than 55 years, CRI has worked to establish and nurture what is now known as the field of cancer immunology. The Institute's sole purpose is to find ways to harness the power of the immune system to treat, control, and prevent cancer. To accomplish its singular mission, CRI funds leading-edge laboratory and clinical research at academic institutions around the world. The Institute convenes teams of experts from multiple disciplines and fosters collaboration and open-sharing of resources and knowledge. Finding New, Smarter Solutions With CRI support and guidance, scientists are making great strides in the development of therapeutic cancer vaccines and antibody therapies. Some of these have already entered the mainstream of cancer treatment, and more are on the way, including immune-based therapies for prostate cancer, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer — the three deadliest cancers in men.
